Caitlin & Rhombus | Gallery 1028 | Chicago Wedding

Caitlin and Rhombus’ Chicago wedding was at the amazing Gallery 1028 venue. Located in the Goose Island neighborhood, Gallery 1028 is a converted industrial space. Is is the perfect combination of old industrial elements and modern elegance. From the original floors to brick walls and exposed beams, it was the perfect match for Caitlin and Rhombus’ style. Decoration were pretty minimal as they wanted to let the space shine. White and pink roses with simple greenery and gold accents created a beautiful summer color pallet that played perfectly off the warm wood tones in the room. The whole space left you with simple elegance.

This wedding was particularly fun for me because I have actually known the groom since we were four years old! Getting to be a part of a wedding that included so many people I’ve known for years made it extra special. It was so fun to see how much we have grown and changed since grade school!

Caitlin and Rhombus have such a sweet story. Their love story has spanned 9 years - from their time at the University of Pennsylvania (their roommates introduced them and were in the wedding party), to adopting their dog, and relocating to Chicago. Their wedding was truly a celebration of their journey together - what makes them unique and what binds them together.

I always encourage my clients to think about ways to showcase their personality in the planning process. Your day should highlight you and your unique love story! For Caitlin and Rhombus this meant having Rhombus’ sister act as the officiant for the ceremony and including some fun food traditions. Caitlin is from Pennsylvania so we included a fabulous 16 foot long cookie table. The exact roots of this tradition are unknown, but in western PA the family always bakes cookies for a wedding. There were over 900 homemade cookies made up of over 13 varieties for guests to sample. We even had take-home boxes so they could grab some for the road! Since Rhombus is from Chicago, including a hot dog cart for late night eats was an obvious choice. And a Chicago style hot dog makes the perfect fuel for dancing the night away.

We loved working with Caitlin and Rhombus! Their laid back approach and classic style with a touch of modern elegance made for such a fun day.
