The Monastery Event Center | Jess & Loc | Cincinnati Wedding Planner

Jess and Loc always dreamed of having a wedding in Italy. But with two busy careers and dear friends and family stateside, a Cinncinati wedding just made more sense. Luckily, with a venue like the Monastery Event Center, bringing the romance of an Italian wedding to Ohio was totally doable.

Jess and Loc met in 2009. They were both completing a Master’s program at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and they quickly bonded over long study sessions in the library. After graduating, their careers took them all over the country and the world. From Grenada to Louisana, this couple has lived and traveled far and wide. Eventually, they landed in Cinncinnati where Loc is completing a family medicine residency and Jess works as an emergency medicine physician.

After a 5 year engagement, this couple was ready to get married and get married fast. We planned their entire wedding in less than 6 months! While it is definitely not what I would recommend for most my full planning clients, these two had a vision and trusted me with the details so we were able to pull off a stellar event quick.

We decided to focus on Jess and Loc’s love of travel and Italy in particular as the inspiration for their wedding. We wanted it to have the feel of a romantic and sophisticated Italian evening complete with an intimate dinner with close friends and family.

The Monastery Event Center was the perfect backdrop to bring our Italian dinner party to life. Perched atop the Mt. Adams neighborhood, this beautifully updated catholic church gives you all the old-world European feels. To bring the theme to life, we played with a color scheme of dusty greens, slate blues, and greys. We also incorporated natural fibers linens and cheesecloth runners to create a rustic Italian feel. Subtle accents of gold and candles created a warm and welcoming feeling.

Their ceremony was actually done in the round which added a unique touch and helped create the intimate vibe we were hoping for. They stood under a beautiful canopy, surrounded by friends and family as they repeated their vows.

Inspired by their love of travel, we also created a scrapbook travel wall. We were able to display pictures, tickets, and travel memorabilia from some of their favorite trips. I absolutely love that we were able to include something so personal in their decor. Your wedding should be a reflection of you and your partner’s story. So I always look for ways to incorporate that into the details of my designs.

Jess and Loc were such an amazing couple to work with. Their love for each other is infectious and was clearly on display on their wedding day. We loved how open they were to design suggestions and incorporating unique elements into their day. The end result was something that reflected their relationship and all that means to them.
