You honestly never know when you might meet your soulmate. For Amber and Eric, it was a $2 Tuesday night at a local bar.

They met totally by chance. Amber happened to notice Eric because he was sporting a tie. She commented on his classy look, and they spent the evening talking and laughing. But for whatever reason, when they left the bar that night, they didn’t exchange numbers or even last names. When they ran into each other again a few weeks later, they knew it was meant to be.

That chance encounter at a bar led to the ultimate romance. Eric and Amber couldn’t be a better match, and their wedding at Dayton Masonic Center was just as perfect.

While I love to play with pops of color, I also appreciate the sophisticated and timeless look of a neutral palette. That is the direction we went for Amber and Eric’s design. But rest assured, neutral does not mean boring! By playing with texture and paying particular attention to the details, a neutral wedding can have a big wow factor.

We also weren’t afraid to play with big design elements to truly transform the space. The Dayton Masonic is a beautiful building. Built in 1925 in the Grecian style, it is full of big columns and high ceilings. It can handle larger design pieces, and we totally took advantage of that opportunity.

For example, Amber and Eric opted for a full band at the reception. With the scale of the room, we were able to opt for a full stage and facade to accommodate them. It was definitely not something you can do in every space, but it made the room feel grand. We were also able to install a floral chandelier which was such an elegant touch.

Finally, we used a hedge wall made with three acrylic panels on top. It divided the greeting space, and served as an escort wall. The flip side was a backdrop for the head table and a large scale custom monogram. Once everyone was seated, the seating chart was flipped and became the perfect backdrop for the dessert display. I love including versatile pieces like this in my designs. It was practical, providing some division in a large space and ensured a cohesive look and feel. ᐧ

Amber and Eric were such a fun couple to work with. Their energy and love for one another is contagious, and I think we were able to design a wedding that captured that spirit.

“Samantha was truly a saving grace! With my busy work schedule, I knew I could not plan a wedding on my own (because lets be real, do the Groom's really care about anything other than the menu!). SJE made my dream wedding the most magical day a girl could ever dream of. Not only did Samantha listen to what I wanted but she had so many new and fresh ideas of her own to bring my vision to life. SJE was crucial when thinking about all of the logistics for the day and scheduling vendors, etc. Without Samantha, I would have spent my wedding week making sure that everything was ready to go according to plan but SJE took care of all of that leaving me to not have to worry about a thing. HIGHLY recommend Samantha and her team!!”
