Cincinnati Art Museum Garden Inspired Shoot

There is just something about spring that inspires my creativity. And since COVID 19 has us missing all the spring time wedding fun, I thought I would throw it back to last spring and our Cincinnati Art Museum editorial shoot. For this shoot, I wanted to bring in all the colors and feelings of my favorite season. The result was this garden inspired editorial shoot full of romance, elegance, and fresh spring colors.

I love working at the Cincinnati Art Museum. The romanesque architecture makes you feel like you are exploring somewhere in Europe. It is hard not to be inspired as you take in their collection of over 67,000 works. I love drawing inspiration from other creators and makers and actually based our color palette on one of the impressionist paintings in their collection.

Another great feature of the Cincinnati Art Museum is all the amazing places to take photographs. It is a fantastic venue for weddings and a day off to explore art. Courtyards, water features, grand staircases - the options are endless. It is a great choice for brides who want variety in their wedding images. It also provides options when choosing a location for the ceremony, cocktails, and reception. Plus, many of their indoor galleries provide great art backdrops and colored walls that change throughout the year.

With our garden inspired shoot in mind, we took advantage of the beautiful courtyard at the Cincinnati Art Museum to style our reception table. We set our table with loose, overflowing floral centerpieces created by Floral Verde in varying shades of pink and completed the look with wood candle holders. We choose an ornate plate and cut glass stemware with a soft grey napkin for each place setting. We kept the colors of the place setting neutral so that the florals would really pop, but added texture and pattern to create both visual and tactile interest.

And what garden wedding is complete without a cocktail? Ours was prepared by the Cincinnati Art Museum in-house catering team, styled in a champagne coupe for a bit of vintage flair, and garnished with an edible flower. How great would this be as a signature cocktail for your guests to sip on during cocktail hour?

Creating and styling this garden inspired shoot at the Cincinnati Art Museum was so much fun. Inspired by spring gardens and the beautiful pieces of art in the galleries, this is one of my favorite editorial shoots I’ve put together. We wanted to create the feel of an intimate garden wedding, and the results were dreamy.
