Fall Creation Editorial Featured on Style Me Pretty

Cliffside Acres Wedding Venue - Destination Wedding Planner - Photography Workshop - Kelli Lynn Photography

Our second Creation Editorial is in the books and believe it or not, I may love it more than the first! The Creation Editorial is a long time dream of mine. Having worked in the industry for years, I know that not all photography workshops or styled shoots are created equal. The Creation Editorial gives photographers the opportunity to shoot editorial style material, intentionally growing their portfolio by capturing photos they can’t get elsewhere. After the success of our first Creation Editorial, we knew we had to make it a regular offering.

Our Fall Creation Editorial was at Cliffside Acres, a new, modern farmhouse located in central Ohio. The farmhouse is a pretty blank slate and we wanted to show how it can be used in a more upscale and modern way. This was far from traditional farmhouse style.

We drew our color inspiration from the large, window paned black doors at Cliffside Acres. We used touches of black in the ceremony and reception chairs and floral centerpieces. I know that black isn’t the first color that comes to people’s mind when pulling together a wedding design, but it is so stunning. When used right, black accents create a design that looks and feels high-end.

The rest of our color palette was a play on the colors of late summer, perfect for a fall event. Red-ish, brown anthuriums were the highlight flower of the arrangements followed closely by the cafe latte and coffee roses. The orchids, amaranthus, and anthuriums helped bring the modern aesthetic we wanted to achieve while the many rose varieties help soften the palette. Our co-host, Roots Floral Design, did an amazing job with all the florals. All the colors worked together to create a warm and inviting feeling.

We also like to use the Creation Editorial to feature new and exciting ways to elevate wedding decor. PaigeMakes hand-painted the acrylic pieces that were hung from the hanging ceremony installation and escort card display. This type of event decor installation definitely isn’t common but it is a great way to make your event personal and unique. Installations like this are such a showstopper! They look and feel dynamic and give guests an experience. I love helping clients incorporate them into their wedding designs.

Our cake was designed by one of Ohio’s newest cake designers, Icon Cakes Cincinnati. They specialize in sugar and flowers and unique flavors. The cake they created was nothing short of stunning. It is so hard to believe all the florals are made of sugar, pure art! I’ve been seeing the sugar art trend more and more and personally hope it is here to stay.

The paper goods for this shoot were by Victoria Fiaretti. We choose her specifically for the way her products elevate a design. Your invitation suite is the first taste that guests will get of your event concept, it should bring in your personality, story, and reflect the overall aesthetic of your wedding day. Your invitation suite also sets the tone for your day-of stationery, keeping a consistent look and feel is important.

It is hard to pick a favorite part of our Fall Creation Editorial. I always leave these shoots simultaneously exhausted but energized. I’m inspired by my fellow creatives and getting to spend a day watching them design, work, and shoot fills me up. I can’t wait for the next one!
