Refined Garden Party Wedding at Peterloon Estate

Quiet refinement. What a lovely idea to create for a wedding. Getting to know Kevin and Rachel deeply enriched the planning process for their special day. As both work in creative roles professionally, a detailed, refined style was the intention behind many of the design decisions for their wedding.

We began with the concept of art nouveau, and we gradually built the tone and emotion from a depth of colors and patterns evoking the feelings of peace found in nature and nostalgia-softened memories. While art nouveau initially guided our design elements, we eventually moved more strongly into a garden estate theme.

The venue itself provided a dreamy, historic garden estate backdrop for the event. The day began with a rainy start that bloomed into a beautiful, intimate indoor ceremony. Touches of pink blossoms, hanging greenery, and draped linen over a copper chuppah provided an understated, yet elegant atmosphere as the couple was united in marriage. With under 100 guests, we were able to continue the intimate atmosphere of the ceremony into the evening.

The ceremony seamlessly melded into a cocktail hour with light music and happy conversation. Dinner followed under a tent strung with fairy-lights, long, white drapery, and lines of greenery. Subtly patterned, smoky blue linens covered the tables, with blush, mauve, and gold flowers crafted into elegant centerpieces that were interspersed with glass-sheathed candles. The gold-tinged place-settings bespoke simplicity and beauty that danced along as an undercurrent throughout the evening.

The cake created for the couple was a deliciously crafted work of art representing the simple elegance of purposeful design. A rich, cream color dominated the majority of the three-tiered cake, but the pièce de résistance was a trail of delicate white flowers set upon a background of long, whimsical leaves. A simple design with bold detail embodied the heart of the wedding design beautifully. The art nouveau colors of this wedding were balanced within the layers of detail and textures of the event and fell as a perfectly planned backdrop for the celebration of a new journey for Kevin and Rachel.
