Sally & Brennan | Puppy Love Fall Estate Wedding

Beautiful and personal, elegant and comfortable - these are the ideals that centered Sally and Brennan’s wedding day. Sally and Brennan described their style as classic and simple with a touch of natural and earthy. We gathered these concepts and created a wedding laden with coppery silks and pine green velvets, simple ceramics and sumptuous food, hanging orbs of flowers and greenery and several unique touches to represent the happy couple.

Brennan proposed to Sally the afternoon before she ran the Chicago marathon, and they celebrated the happy day with their entire families. Just like their engagement, they wanted their wedding to have a down-to-earth and family-centric.We brought this in with sibling speeches during dinner instead of the traditional best-man and maid-of-honor toasts. The sibling speeches brought an infusion of sweetness and nostalgia to the dinner party and there were few dry eyes among their guests. Another personal touch the bride and groom brought into their day were their signature drinks - Apple Mules and Smokey Old Fashioneds.

Their ceremony was held at All Saints Catholic Church, in a lovely sanctuary with large-stained glass windows and high, vaulted-ceilings with aged, wooden beams. The ceremony transitioned over to Peterloon Estate for the cocktail hour and reception. Sally and Brennan loved Peterloon for the greenery and fall foliage, the privacy, and beautiful, Georgian-style buildings on the property. Cocktail hour took place in the courtyards and inside the estate manor, where large fireplaces, an old, traditional library, and warm, Slavonian oak-paneling created a cozy, comfortable atmosphere. Guests were able to enjoy signature drinks chosen by the happy couple - Apple Mules and Smokey Old Fashioneds - while exploring the manor and walking the grounds of Peterloon Estate. Centered in the main room of Peterloon was the seating chart for the reception - a large, pine-green masterpiece nestled among a small explosion of flowers and candles, the result of a lovely partnership with wedding designer - Poeme. Small reminders of their much loved dog, Franklin, could be found in hidden profiles within its design, as well as in tiny dog figurines by the bars.

The reception was held inside a tent that sat at the back of the house and overlooked the creek that runs at the back of the property. Tables set with green velvet linens and the wood tones of the chairs kept the feeling of the design down to earth. Simple, white, scallop-edged plates were set upon copper-toned chargers and wrapped in napkins of multi-shaded copper. Flowers of pinks, burlywood, and terra cotta covered the tables and hung in orbs of greenery from the ceiling. The dance floor was covered in floral print set against a green background, with little paw-prints from the couple’s sweet pup. By the end of dinner, catered by Garnish Catering, guests were ready to dance the night away. Sally and Brennan’s wedding was a beautiful mix of simplicity, elegance, family, and their personalities!
