Paul and Carolyn's 80th Birthday Party|The Estate At Sunset Farms

Paul and Carolyn’s 80th birthday party at the Estate at Sunset Farms was such a joy to plan! Turning 80 is a huge milestone, why not go all out celebrating with your friends and family?

Paul and Carolyn’s son, Bruce, actually reached out to me for help with event design and planning. Bruce wanted a celebration that honored and thanked his parents for all the ways they had cared for him over the years - right up my alley!

For our event design, we focused on incorporating elements that would speak to both Paul and Carolyn. Carolyn is an avid gardener so we wanted to bring in plenty of pretty florals. Paul is a physicist and it is common knowledge amongst his friends that he can recite the Periodic Table.  We worked with Ivory House Creative to put together a seating chart that looked just like the Periodic Table. Each guest’s name was an element and their table number was the atomic number. I absolutely love how it turned out. Such a unique take and perfectly representative of Paul!

The his and hers cakes tied in their passions as well. Paul’s with a molecule model and Carolyn’s was decorated with flowers. A love planning birthday parties because there are so many fun and creative ways to celebrate the guest of honor. What do they love to do? What are they passionate about? What inspires them? Center the design around that!

I love working at The Estate at Sunset Farms as well. There are so many great features - floor to ceiling windows, a huge brick fireplace, and a grand staircase in the entryway. It was the perfect setting for Paul and Carolyn’s 80th birthday celebration.

We planned the party for the week after Thanksgiving, so we did want to tie in a few seasonal elements. We served a signature spiced cider and incorporated plenty of candles to give the space a warm and inviting look. This definitely wasn’t a holiday party, but it is still important to plan events with the season in mind. It impacts everything from the food you serve to florals you choose.

An 80th birthday is a huge milestone and I’m so honored I could help Paul and Carolyn celebrate theirs!
